infant and early childhood mental health occupational therapy services

As an infant mental health occupational therapist, Rebecca partners with caregivers as they work to find greater ease, understanding, connection, and community for their family. Holding central each family’s unique story, Rebecca offers her knowledge of nervous system, sensory, motor, and cognitive development through play and caregiving interactions. She strives to be an ally, holding central the family’s experience, identities, culture, values, and relationships to each other and to the community as a primary source of health and well-being. Her stance is neurodiversity and gender affirming.

Reflecting her particular expertise, play-based dyadic sessions are offered for children (0-7) and caregivers in her playroom, located in northeast Seattle. These sessions focus on creating an environment in which developmental processes can unfold in the context of the caregiver-child relationship. These are complimented by telehealth sessions with caregiver(s), in which Rebecca supports caregivers to reflect on the experience of parenting, offers developmental guidance, supports advocacy, and collaborates to explore new ways of understanding and supporting everyday challenges.

Rebecca brings lived experience and professional expertise in supporting children and caregivers who have experienced trauma and adversity, including the experience of living and learning in systems that don't recognize or support neurodivergent ways of experiencing, thinking, and being.

Rebecca works as an independent provider, but has extensive experience working in collaboration with educators and other professionals.

training and consultation for early educators

Large group anchor trainings offer a shared foundation for the whole staff to approach challenging behaviors with greater confidence. Building on a practical framework for self-reflection and mentalization, Rebecca offers accessible working models that illuminate the lived experience of developmental differences to illuminate these invisible influences on the child's developing sense of self, regulation, attention, behavior, and social participation in the classroom community.

Episodic observation and consultation visits to each classroom make use of this foundation. Rebecca brings her keen observational skills, professional expertise, and her compassionate and reflective stance to the classroom team, inviting curiosity and creativity as we consider the child's experience and imagine new approaches together.
